Iredell County Public Library brings Special Olympics' Young Athletes program to Statesville parks. The hour of games and activities helps children of all backgrounds and abilities build gross motor skills along with sportsmanship habits like sharing, taking turns and following directions. It is geared to ages 2 to 7, and older siblings are welcome to join in and help. Two sessions: November 5 at the Statesville Soccer Complex and November 19 at Jennings Park, both 4–5 p.m. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged (register only the participating children), and Special Olympics asks parents to complete a one-time form before the first session.
