The Paul Hruby Ice Arena at Ridgeland Common, run by the Park District of Oak Park, holds indoor public skate sessions with music, skate rentals included in admission, and walkers for people just starting out. Regular public skate runs Friday and Saturday evenings from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. and Sunday from 12:45 to 2:45 p.m., and every Saturday evening is Cosmic Skate under disco lights. Separate Noon Skate, Tot Skate, Hruby Skate and Stick & Puck sessions are listed on the park district's rink calendar. Families can pre-register up to 14 days ahead (registration closes an hour before the session) or walk in. Monthly special events on the rink range from teen nights to Skate with Santa.
