About this adventure

Mesquite Arts Theatre, the community theater company based at the Mesquite Arts Center, stages A Christmas Story in the center's intimate Black Box Theatre over the first two weekends of December. The play comes from humorist Jean Shepherd's memoir of growing up in the Midwest in the 1940s and follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker and his single-minded campaign to find a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the tree on Christmas morning, with the family chaos and holiday mishaps that go with it. It is a familiar, funny story that school-age children and their parents can enjoy together, and a small black-box room puts the audience close to the action. Evening performances start at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and run about two hours. Tickets are sold through the theater company's website.
