About this adventure
For its 21st season, Frisco Square's Christmas in the Square puts on what its organizers call the largest choreographed holiday lights-and-music show in North Texas, drawing more than 125,000 visitors a year. More than 180,000 lights, 200 'dancing' snowflakes, new roof-edge LED and color-changing canopy lighting are synchronized to a 10-song soundtrack designed by Frisco's own Jeff Trykoski. The show runs every evening, so families can watch on foot, walking the square while the music plays through speakers, or stay warm in the car with the soundtrack on 107.3 FM, which works well with sleepy toddlers. The square also hosts visits with Santa and horse-drawn carriage rides during the season (schedule not yet posted), and Skate the Square, the outdoor real-ice rink at Main Street and Coleman Boulevard, opens the same night for separately ticketed skating. Watching the light show is free; plan on a short stroll of 30 minutes to an hour and dress for the weather.
