About this adventure

Phamaly Theatre Company brings its adaptive production of Shakespeare's Pericles to the Lone Tree Arts Center. The adaptation comes from Flute Theatre in London and uses the Hunter Heartbeat Method, a way of telling the story through a series of sensory drama games built for audiences with all types of cognitive disabilities, including intellectual disability, autism and developmental disability. Instead of sitting through a conventional play, people with a cognitive disability can sign up to take part in the games alongside the actors, or watch from outside the circle as audience members. The tale of adventure, loss and redemption is carried by rhythm, movement and the sound of the heartbeat, so spoken language is not required to join in, and no knowledge of Shakespeare is needed. The production aims to bring theatre to people who may never have experienced it, and the arts center says all ages are welcome. Phamaly describes itself as a disability-affirmative theatre company. Families should confirm the run and reserve through Phamaly before going.
