About this adventure
The City of Auburn Hills lights its downtown Christmas tree on a Friday evening in late November, with the Mayor of Auburn Hills doing the honors and Santa Claus arriving for the occasion. The city describes it simply as a family fun event, so expect a gathering on Auburn Road in the downtown core where children can watch Santa arrive and see the tree switched on. The city's page does not list a fee, registration or a detailed program of activities, so plan on an outdoor, free-standing evening and dress for November weather. It suits families with children of any age who want a short, local start to the holiday season in northern Oakland County; the event window runs three hours, so families can arrive when it suits them.
