About this adventure

The Saturday before Thanksgiving, a Lake Erie Metropark interpreter leads a two-hour seasonal walk on the park's trails built around the holiday. Along the way the group talks about turkeys, harvest foods and gratitude, and about the history, traditions and wildlife connections behind the Thanksgiving feast, so older kids come away with fun facts and stories to share at the family table. The pace is leisurely with frequent stops, the path is dirt and gravel and mostly flat, and the program is entirely outdoors, finishing at the park's Marshland Museum. The naturalists write that it is designed for ages 12 and older, while registration accepts children from age 8; every child must come with a registered adult. Families pre-register online by 4 p.m. the day before, and the park takes questions and registration help by phone.
