About this adventure

Educators from the Houston Museum of Natural Science bring real specimens and artifacts from the museum's collection to Levy Park's Event Pavilion for a two-hour, drop-in afternoon of hands-on science. Each session has its own topic. On October 25 the theme is Ancient Egypt, covering mummies, the pyramids and the architecture and culture behind them. On November 29, Little Bodies, Big Jobs! brings live arthropods from the museum's Cockrell Butterfly Center so families can meet insects and other invertebrates up close. On December 13 the theme is astronomy: how scientists study the planets, moons, stars and galaxies, and our place among them. The format is informal and close-up, letting children ask museum experts questions while handling or looking at objects, and it suits all ages. Levy Park is in Upper Kirby, with parking next to the park, along Eastside Street and Wakeforest Avenue, and in the paid Kirby Grove garage.
