About this adventure
A one-hour Nature Center program on the bows of the Karankawa people of the Texas coast. A park interpreter explains how Karankawa bowyers made long bows suited to coastal life, how that craft let them hunt and travel up to about 200 miles inland, and how conflict with another nation changed the region's history and culture. It suits school-age children and parents interested in Texas history, archaeology and how people used local plants and materials. Expect a talk with objects to look at rather than a shooting activity. It takes place indoors at the Nature Center. The event page lists no separate program fee or registration; visitors 13 and older pay the park's per-person entrance fee and children 12 and under enter free.
