About this adventure
On the day after Thanksgiving, The Culinary Center of Kansas City runs a three-hour family macaron workshop in Overland Park, open to kids 5 and up with their adults. A chef guides families step by step through French macarons from scratch: whipping meringue, folding the batter (macaronage), piping even shells, getting the characteristic 'feet' and fixing common mistakes. Participants also make a classic French buttercream filling and learn how to color, flavor, fill and rest the cookies for the best texture. Everyone tastes their work in class and takes home an assortment of macarons. It is a precise, multi-step bake, best for kids who enjoy following directions and have some patience; book a seat for each participant.
