About this adventure

The City of Basehor lights the holiday tree outside City Hall on the civic campus. The ceremony starts at 5:00 p.m. and is outdoors, with heaters near the sidewalk. The Dance Element performs at the edge of the parking lot, and the Basehor Middle School Choir is on the program. Mayor Drennon gives holiday greetings. Last year Santa arrived on the Fairmount Township Fire Department ladder truck, and the page tells families to watch the street. Everyone counts down as the tree lights up, and Santa portraits follow the ceremony. Santa's Sweet Shop has Lions Club hot cocoa, VFW popcorn, cookies from Basehor Community Volunteers, and a Basehor High School kids' fundraiser. Photo backdrops include reindeer and snowman cutouts, and a light-up ornament arch leads to a light-up Santa. Basehor Police Department and the fire department are listed as helpers. Dress warm. The page says the evening is free for everyone and family friendly.
