The Rinks (Anaheim ICE)

Anaheim ICE, run by The Rinks on West Lincoln Avenue in Anaheim, holds public skating every day on two sheets of ice, an NHL-size rink and an Olympic-size rink. It keeps more than 1,000 pairs of professionally maintained hockey and figure skates for rent, and new skaters can rent a skate mate (skating aid) for extra support; aids go first come, first served and cannot be reserved online. Families can buy session admission online through a Rinks & Great Park Ice Daysmart account, with each household booking under its own account, or walk in and check in at the front desk, where skaters get an admission sticker and rental skates. Online sales close an hour before each session, and purchases are non-refundable. Weekend and holiday sessions may stop for a 10-minute ice resurfacing break, and double jumps, camel spins and flying spins are kept to freestyle sessions, which keeps the public ice friendlier for beginners. Beyond public skating, Anaheim ICE runs Learn to Skate classes, a Skating Academy and the First Strides for Free program, and its students perform in a holiday recital on December 13 that is free to watch (listed separately).
