About this adventure

Before the cars arrive, Country Christmas at The Ingleside Hotel opens its mile-long light trail to visitors on foot for a handful of November evenings. Walking lets families take their time under Bearville and the 200-foot tunnel of computer-controlled lights, stop for photos and look at the displays up close rather than through a car window, then warm up in Christmas Village (model trains, hot chocolate for sale) and walk through The Streets of Bethlehem nativity building at the end of the trail. Strollers and bundled-up preschoolers do fine on a mile-long route with breaks, and school-age kids usually like the chance to run ahead to the next scene. Last admission is sold at 8 p.m. Part of every ticket goes to the Christmas Clearing Council of Waukesha County. On November 23 and 24 the trail hosts separate Bikes and Lights nights at the same $10 price, with children 23 months and younger free.
