About this adventure

The second annual Newtown Turkey Trot 5K starts at 9 am on Thanksgiving morning in the heart of Newtown Borough, and its organizers describe it as a family-friendly race that welcomes runners and walkers of all ages. Children 12 and under register for the same 5K at a lower kids' fee. The race honors Officer Brian Gregg, a Newtown Borough police officer killed in the line of duty in 2005, and proceeds go to the Bucks County Heroes Scholarship Fund, which pays for the education of children of local first responders who were killed or permanently disabled on duty. It is organized by Boss Events, the Newtown-based group behind the Shamrock Shuffle. For families it is a way to start the holiday outdoors with neighbors before the big meal in the heart of the borough.
