About this adventure

Apache Junction's library and Parks & Recreation team up for a sunset evening outdoors at the city's Rodeo Grounds, with bonfires, s'mores and stories. The library brings its Mobile Library for families to visit, and there is a spooky storytime, a last echo of Halloween season. Between stories, families roast s'mores by the bonfires and learn about the Arizona desert as the sun goes down. The event is free and open to all ages, but registration is required so the organizers have enough supplies for everyone; sign up through the city's online recreation catalog (rec1). It runs for an hour and a half starting at 6 PM on a Friday and ends by 7:30 PM, early enough for younger children. Desert evenings cool off quickly in November, so bring jackets, and consider camp chairs or a blanket for sitting near the fire. Rodeo Park is on East Lost Dutchman Boulevard, and the event is a good low-cost way to spend a Friday night outside with kids of different ages.
