Texture Ballet School stages its production of The Nutcracker at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center in downtown Pittsburgh on December 5. Students dance roles from the Sugar Plum Fairy down to the tiniest Bon Bons, joined by guest performers including Alan Obuzor and other dancers of Texture Contemporary Ballet. The story follows young Clara and her Nutcracker Prince on an adventure led by Drosselmeyer and Lady Silberhaus, with a battle against the Rat Queen and her mice, set to Tchaikovsky's score. The company notes that the venue's close-up seating gives good views from every seat and that the theatre is wheelchair accessible. Show times are still to be announced and tickets will be available soon.
