About this adventure

Rhode Island's zoo is home to more than 100 species. Children can watch Humboldt penguins swim underwater at Penguin Point, see elephants, Masai giraffes, zebras and cheetahs in The Savanna, and walk through Faces of the Rainforest and Himalayan Trek. The Farmyard has goats, sheep, alpacas, chickens and a barn owl, and families can hand-feed goats. Our Big Backyard is a fully accessible nature play space with an indoor activity room, the Drip Drop Water Garden, a Sticks & Stones building zone, giant musical instruments, a sand and fort-building Naturescape, a treehouse and The Nature Swap, where kids trade things they've found outdoors. Daily zookeeper chats are posted on a schedule. The Roger Williams Express train runs on weekends in October and November (10am–3:30pm), and there is a virtual reality ride. The zoo is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
