Oakland Ballet Company performs Graham Lustig's The Nutcracker at Oakland's Paramount Theatre on Saturday, December 19 and Sunday, December 20, 2026, both at 1:00 pm. Described as perfect for all ages, the production follows Marie as she rescues the Nutcracker Prince from the Rat King and travels to the Land of Sweets, with the Oakland Symphony and the Piedmont East Bay Children's Choir performing Tchaikovsky's score live. An optional Sweet Dreams Party follows each performance in the Paramount's mezzanine, where children meet the cast; it requires its own ticket plus a performance ticket. Tickets are sold through Ticketmaster and at the Paramount box office (Fridays noon–5 pm).
