About this adventure
Mark Foehringer Dance Project's Nutcracker Sweets is a 50-minute version of the holiday ballet made for families with small children, returning to the Cowell Theater at Fort Mason Center on three December weekends: the 5th and 6th, 12th and 13th, and 19th and 20th. The company tells E.T.A. Hoffmann's Nutcracker and the Mouse King as zany danced storytelling, with a nine-piece chamber orchestra playing a reorchestrated Tchaikovsky score. There is no intermission, which suits young attention spans. Shows are at 11 AM and 1:30 PM on the first weekend and at 11 AM, 1:30 PM and 4 PM on the later two. Every person needs a ticket, including babes in arms, and seats are sold by section from $23.50 to $65.50. The theater sits at the back of the Herbst Pavilion inside Fort Mason; the company suggests arriving an hour early to park, which is limited, and settle in.
