About this adventure

The Tri-Valley's own full-length Nutcracker, staged each December for more than 40 years by Valley Dance Theatre at the Bankhead Theater in downtown Livermore. Tchaikovsky's score is played live by the Valley Dance Theatre Pit Orchestra rather than a recording, and the cast fills the stage with snowflakes, mice, toy soldiers, the Nutcracker and the Sugar Plum Fairy, with many local young dancers in the company. It is a classic first ballet for children who can sit through a full-length show. Matinees at 2:00 PM suit younger children; evening shows start at 7:00 PM. Families who want more can add a 20-minute backstage VIP tour (sold separately, ticket holders only) before selected performances. Buy only through the Bankhead's own box office or website, which the venue says is the only official online seller for its resident companies.
