About this adventure

Covington's Lighting of the Square is the city's yearly start to the Christmas season on its historic downtown square. The hour-long evening program, listed on the City of Covington calendar as an annual community tradition, brings performances by children's choirs, a visit from Santa, and the lighting of the Christmas tree on the Square. Because it runs from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on a Thursday, it suits families with young children who want to hear the choirs, see Santa and watch the tree light up without a late night. It comes about two weeks before the city's other big holiday dates: the Covington Christmas Parade on the morning of December 5 and the Lights at Legion kickoff that evening. The calendar does not mention a fee or registration.
