About this adventure

Downtown Dover's annual holiday parade, put on by the volunteer group Cochecho Friends, rolls down Central Avenue on the Sunday afternoon of Thanksgiving weekend. Expect decorated floats built around a yearly theme, local organizations and businesses, marching groups and holiday character appearances. The route starts on Central Avenue by the Dover Chamber of Commerce and takes about 45 to 50 minutes to reach its end at Cleary Cleaners, so families can pick a curbside spot anywhere along Central Avenue and watch the whole line pass. Participants are not allowed to throw candy or hand out items, which keeps small children off the street. Dress warmly for a late-November afternoon and arrive early for a front-row spot. Groups that want to march or enter a float must register in advance; day-of entries are not accepted.
