Train-loving children who struggle with noise and crowds get a calmer first look at the Outdoor Adventure Center's December Train Expo, Detroit on Track! During the morning accessibility hours the center limits how many people are inside, lowers building sounds and ambient noise and turns off the waterfall. Families can study a model train exhibit and the activities and displays brought by the Lakeshore Garden Railway Club, the Michigan Transit Museum, Operation Lifesaver and the Grand Trunk Western Historical Society, which cover everything from garden-scale layouts to Detroit's railroad history and rail safety. There is also a craft and a giveaway while supplies last. Two hours is enough to see the layouts without rushing, and the session ends as the building opens to the public at noon. The expo is included with regular admission.
