About this adventure

The Outdoor Adventure Center opens its STEAM Expo with two accessibility hours for families who find busy, loud rooms hard going. From 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. the building admits a limited number of visitors, keeps building sounds and ambient noise low and switches off the indoor waterfall, so children can try the expo's science, engineering, art and math activities in a quieter setting. Local organizations bring hands-on demonstrations that connect STEAM ideas with nature and everyday life, and families can move between tables at their own pace before the public session starts at noon. It suits school-age children who like building and experimenting but tire quickly in crowds, along with their siblings and grown-ups. The expo is included with regular admission to the center.
