About this adventure

Downtown Rochester's Kris Kringle Market borrows the idea of Europe's open-air Christmas markets and sets it up for two days at West Fourth Street and Walnut Boulevard. Vendors sell handmade gifts, specialty foods, fresh greens and wreaths, and a warming tent gives families a break from the cold. For children the main draw is Santa's Village: Santa takes visits from 4 to 9 p.m. on Friday and from noon to 9 p.m. on Saturday, and he reads a Santa story-time at 6 p.m. on Friday and at 1 and 6 p.m. on Saturday. The Rochester Lions Club runs marshmallow roasting and hot chocolate and sells toys, and a music stage hosted by The Roxy adds entertainment, with the line-up still to be announced. The Saturday afternoon story-time is the easiest slot for younger children, while the evenings suit families who want to see the downtown lights after dark.
