About this adventure

Menorah in the D is Detroit's big public Hanukkah celebration, held at Cadillac Square next to Campus Martius Park. The 2026 gathering opens at 3:30 pm on Sunday, December 6, and the 26-foot Detroit Menorah is lit at 4:45 pm, with greetings from community leaders and the honoring of eight Community Lamplighters. Around the lighting there is strolling entertainment, balloon animals and hats, and crafts, games and treats for kids, plus complimentary hot soup, snacks and drinks. Organizers ask guests to RSVP online; RSVPs receive a free parking validation for a nearby lot while spots last. Security screening is used at the entrances, and coolers, bicycles, skateboards and heelies are not allowed. It is an outdoor evening in December, so dress children warmly; the lighting suits families with kids of all ages.
