About this adventure
A one-hour ranger talk about the snakes that live in Brazos Bend State Park's swamps, prairies and bottomland forest. The interpreter covers how these cold-blooded reptiles hunt, hide, regulate body temperature and avoid the people who fear them, and why most of the park's snakes are harmless and useful neighbors. The program ends with a live guest animal that families can see up close, which makes it a good introduction for children who are nervous or curious about snakes. Meet outside the park's Nature Center; the talk is outdoors, so dress for the weather and plan for mosquitoes near the lakes. Park entry is charged per person 13 and older, and children 12 and under enter free. The event page lists no registration.
