About this adventure

The Guthrie Theater holds one relaxed performance of its 52nd annual A Christmas Carol on the Wurtele Thrust Stage. It is open to everyone but intentionally modified for people with sensory and vestibular sensitivities, anxiety, autism spectrum disorders, learning differences, dementia or other challenges attending the theater, which makes it a good way to bring children, grandparents and anyone who finds a full house overwhelming to Dickens's story of Ebenezer Scrooge. Expect the same production with small changes: louder effects turned down, no strobe lights, house lights left on and a relaxed attitude to sound and movement in the audience. The Guthrie recommends the show for ages 8 and up; it runs about 1 hour 45 minutes including intermission. The theater posts social narratives, building maps and a tip sheet to help families prepare.
