About this adventure
The Tigard Downtown Alliance brings its holiday tree lighting and holiday market back to Universal Plaza, the city's newer community plaza just off Main Street. The evening opens with a holiday market at 5 p.m., Dickens-style carolers sing at about 5:30, and Santa arrives around 6:30 p.m. The tree is lit at about 6:45, and from 7 to 8 p.m. children can line up for visits with Santa, so families with young kids may want to arrive early and stay through the lighting. The organizer calls all times approximate. Nearby Main Street businesses join in, including a baby goat 'reindeer' appearance at Beach Hut Deli. Dress for an outdoor December evening; the plaza is a short walk from the Tigard Transit Center.
