About this adventure
The Tobacco Farm Life Museum in Kenly holds a free fall Harvest Festival on the first Saturday of November, a day of autumn activities built around North Carolina's agricultural history. Families learn how farm families lived and worked through hands-on activities and historic demonstrations, play fall-themed games, make themed crafts, and explore the museum's exhibit gallery on rural life in eastern North Carolina. It is a good fit for elementary-age children who learn best by doing, and the games and crafts give preschoolers something to do as well. The festival runs from 10 am to 3 pm and admission is free, with donations appreciated; the event is supported by the Wilson County Tourism Development Authority and the Friends of the Tobacco Farm Life Museum. Kenly sits just off I-95 in northern Johnston County, an easy drive from Smithfield, Clayton and eastern Wake County.
