About this adventure

Northeast Regional Library's annual whipped cream and butter making party for kindergarten through second grade is a hands-on kitchen-science afternoon just before Thanksgiving. Children shake jars of heavy cream until it turns into whipped cream and then butter, watching the change happen in their own hands, and then taste their whipped topping on the library's favorite holiday pies. It is a short, lively hour aimed at early elementary students who like to be busy and to taste what they make, and it doubles as a simple lesson in how cream changes when it is agitated. The program is free and listed for school-age children; parents of children with dairy allergies should check with staff beforehand. Older siblings in grades 3–5 have their own Whipped Cream Workshop at the same branch the following week.
