About this adventure

Intiman Theatre brings back Langston Hughes' gospel song-play Black Nativity for its fourth year at Broadway Performance Hall on Capitol Hill, December 10–27, with a Family Night preview on December 9. The production features 30 performers, a live band, powerful vocals and a citywide gospel choir, and the audience gets a chance to sing along. The first half is a gospel retelling of the Christmas story in which pageantry, music and dance combine with Hughes' text. The show has been a Seattle holiday tradition for audiences of all backgrounds and beliefs since 1998, and this all-new production debuted in 2024. It runs about two hours with one intermission. Intiman marks three performances as family performances that welcome children of all ages: Family Night on Wednesday, December 9 and Saturday, December 19 at 6:30 p.m., and a Family Day matinee on Tuesday, December 22 at 2 p.m. At those performances lap children under 4 and babies in arms do not need a ticket, and the code INTI-FAMILY gives buy three, get one free.
