About this adventure

The Capital Jewish Museum's fall Family Day celebrates the work of Esther Bubley, the photographer who documented wartime Washington, and coincides with the opening of the exhibition "Esther Bubley: Photographing the Homefront." Local Jewish photographer Aryeh Schwartz leads a photography workshop that goes beyond the phone's camera app to the artistry behind Bubley's pictures; families can pose in a 1940s-inspired photobooth and take their photo home; and an exhibition guide turns the galleries into a game of "chaiSpy," with a dedicated children's section on how to explore a photograph. Craft tables and games inspired by her portfolio round out the day. The museum says the program is best for ages 5 to 15 with their families. Tickets are free for children and adults (an optional $5 supporter ticket exists) and include free admission to the new exhibition; reserve them through the museum's SimpleTix page. Drop in any time between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
