About this adventure

For eight weeks the DowntownDC Business Improvement District turns Franklin Park, downtown Washington's largest green space, into a free walk-through light display. After dark the park fills with thousands of twinkling lights and glowing installations: an icicle-lit walkway, giant illuminated snowflakes, a lit-up mother and baby bear to greet, and a giant star to make a wish under, with photo spots tucked throughout. There are no tickets, gates or timed entry, so it works as a short evening stroll with children of any age, an add-on to the DowntownDC Holiday Market on F Street, or a stop on the way to a downtown holiday show. Strollers can use the park paths. On Saturday, December 5 (10 a.m.–7 p.m.) the park also hosts the WPGC Community Coat Drive, where visitors can donate new or gently used coats. Nearest Metro stops are McPherson Square (14th and I Street exit) and Metro Center (13th and G Street exit).
