About this adventure

San Francisco Ballet School runs weekly Adaptive Dance classes for children 6 to 8 with Down syndrome, autism spectrum disorder or other developmental, physical or cognitive disabilities. The winter term meets on Saturday afternoons from 3:30 to 4:15 PM for nine weeks, January 9 to March 13, 2027, in the school's studios on Franklin Street. Classes blend creative dance, improvisation and basic ballet technique to build balance, strength, coordination and confidence in a relaxed, supportive setting. Each class is capped at 10 students with roughly two students per adult: a trained lead teacher, a teaching assistant, a live accompanist and a licensed physical or occupational therapist. New families fill out an interest form, pay a $25 application fee and complete a 30-minute intake interview before enrolling, so the staff can plan how to support each child. Financial assistance may be available.
