About this adventure

Rockville Civic Ballet, the city-sponsored community ballet company directed by Eleanor Simpson and Erin Kwong, dances its holiday Nutcracker over two December weekends at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre in the Rockville Civic Center Park. Audiences follow Clara on her magical journey through the classic Tchaikovsky ballet, performed by a company that includes many local young dancers, at community-theater prices well below the big downtown productions. There are eight performances: Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. (December 4, 5, 11 and 12) and weekend matinees at 2 p.m. (December 5, 6, 12 and 13); each runs about two and a quarter hours. Tickets went on sale October 27 through the theater's box office; children 12 and under and seniors pay the reduced price, group pricing is available by phone, a 50-cent processing fee is added per ticket, and all sales are final. The matinees suit younger children best.
