An evening owl program at Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary in Topsfield. Families begin in the barn examining real feathers, skulls and talons to see what makes owls such skilled night hunters, then head out at dusk into fields and forest with a naturalist, listening and watching for Eastern Screech-Owls, Barred Owls and Great Horned Owls. Back in the barn, kids dissect an owl pellet to find out what the owls have been eating. Sightings are never guaranteed, but the hands-on parts make it worthwhile either way. For families with children ages 6 to 17; 90 minutes; dress warmly for the walk.
