About this adventure

Collingswood opens its holiday season the evening after Thanksgiving with the Borough's official tree lighting at Borough Hall on Haddon Avenue. The highlight for children is Santa's entrance: he climbs down from the top of Borough Hall on the Collingswood Fire Department's ladder truck just before the town tree is switched on, while local choral groups sing and borough officials share season's greetings. Afterward the evening keeps going downtown: a live ice-carving demonstration runs from 7:30 to 9 pm at the Millennium Clock by the Zane Schoolhouse at Irvin Avenue, and Santa heads to his house at Extraordinary ED on Haddon Avenue for free visits until 9 pm. With more than a quarter-million lights on the downtown's tree-lined streets, it is an easy night to stroll, get hot cocoa and let children see Santa twice. Arrive a little early to find a spot near Borough Hall.
