About this adventure
The Pilesgrove-Woodstown Historical Society's 50th annual Woodstown by Candlelight turns the small Salem County town into an evening-long holiday celebration. Visitors start at the Creekside Inn Pavilion, where there is free parking, seasonal food and drink, crafters and live music, then ride jitneys that loop every ten minutes to seven stops around town. The evening includes candlelit tours of decorated pre-Revolutionary and pre-Civil War homes, musicians performing on street corners every hour, a live nativity with sheep, donkeys and a camel, horse-drawn carriage rides, a Town Crier and a holiday market of local vendors along South Main Street. Children ages 4 to 17 need a ticket and children 3 and under are free; tickets are sold online in advance or on the night at the Creekside Inn, the Woodstown Central Railroad station and a booth at North Main Street and East Avenue. The railroad runs its Candlelight Limited Santa train the same night, which makes an easy add-on for families with young children. Dress for walking outdoors after dark.
