Blake's Orchard & Cider Mill in Armada switches on its Christmas tree lights on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, turning the farm into a holiday gathering spot for the evening. Families can sing along with carolers, listen to live music, warm up around fire pits and sip hot cider or hot cocoa while the tree comes to life. Admission is free; the farm asks guests to RSVP through its ticket page, but the RSVP is optional. If you are also shopping for a tree, pre-cut Christmas trees are sold until 7 p.m., and the Apple Barn Market and cider mill stay open until 8 p.m. for cider, donuts and gifts. The celebration lasts two hours outdoors on the farm grounds, so it works for children of any age who can handle a chilly November evening, and it pairs well with the farm's Holiday Hustle 5K fun run held the same morning.
