About this adventure
Sterling Heights Fire and Police Departments teach a two-evening Babysitting Safety course for young teens who want to start babysitting, stay home alone or simply build safety skills. Over two sessions at the Community Center, participants learn accident prevention, emergency preparedness, basic childcare skills and how to stay calm under stress while caring for younger children. The course also introduces CPR and first aid fundamentals, safety awareness and responsible decision-making. Students should bring a drink, a snack and a pen or pencil; the city sends further details before the first class. The class is for ages 11 to 16 and meets Tuesday and Thursday evenings, November 10 and 12, from 6 to 8 pm. Registration through WebTrac closes November 10; the fee is $34 for residents and $44 for non-residents.
